Narrative/Story type
I will be following 'Svetzan Todorovs' narrative theory and the story line will be 'The Romance' as the narrative is featured around Joseph getting Ellie's attention which ultimately ends up in them dating and then there is something that could ruin the relationship therefore it is all based around the relationship of Joseph and Ellie and about their romance which makes my story type 'The Romance'.

My Chosen Sequence
My chosen sequence is from about two thirds of the way through the film and this is when Joseph and Ellie have their first romantic moment in the park when Joseph serenades Ellie were the audience think that the two of them could possibly be getting together as all the other time Ellie had been pushing him away as she thought he was just another typical High school Jerk, so this is the first time that she feels something for him. It also is the point of the film in which Joseph's life really starts to look the best it can be as he's the captain of the football team, lead vocalist along with Ellie in the show choir and he almost has his girl. This is the moment in which everything changes in their emotions so therefore it is a very important sequence so that is why I have chosen to do this sequence

My synopsis (First Draft)
Joseph Myers is the most popular kid at Wyke High school in
a town called Hessle and when Ellie Valentine moves into town and enrols at the
same school as Joseph, from then on all Joseph wants is the attention from Ellie. Unlike Joseph, Ellie isn’t very popular as she is more inclined to be
a part of the Math team and Glee club rather than part of the schools renowned
Cheerleading squad and sports teams. This however does not matter to Joseph as
he would throw that all away just to get her to like him.
Ellie just thinks
that Joseph is like all the other big shot boys at every school, Joseph looks
to change
Ellie view by joining the Glee club to show that he doesn’t care
what people think as long as he gets the girl he loves. There are constant
songs to show the emotion that is being portrayed including a moment in which
Joseph sings to Ellie in the park where Joseph and his friends hang out, he
leaves his friends and dances round the park whilst singing to Ellie so she
knows what she really means to him. The two start dating however this could all
come to an end when Joseph has to make a decision between the National Football
championship final and the National Show Choir championship. His relationship
with Ellie and his friends hangs in the balance as he has to make the hardest
decision of his life on which one to go to.

The above trailer shows the film trailer for the musical, High school musical 3 within this trailer you can see many uses of the iconography above as it shows the characters dancing, having fun and enjoying themselves and you also see some struggling there and they use singing as a way to get out of that struggle. You can also hear one of the songs over the top which again reinforces the fact that this is a musical and that is what it's about. We also get a bit of a look at the narrative as well so that we know that it's not just going to be a sing-song and that there will actually be some meaning for it and it will be there for a reason as it will fit in with the narrative.
